Peace Energy - A Renewable Energy Cooperative (PEC) was incorporated in 2003 to promote the development and adoption of renewable energy sources in the BC and Alberta Peace; wind, solar, geoexchange and others.

The early Directors of PEC were amongst the very first to recognize the tremendous opportunities that exist for the region, and the significant environmental and economic benefits associated with the development of renewable energy resources.
With the priority that the government now places on renewable energy development for the reduction of Green House Gases, Peace Energy Cooperative, with over 300 members across Canada, is strongly positioned for continued success.
A former winner of the Environment Friendly Award and the Most Innovative Business of the Year Award, PEC continues its focus on the future and is committed to providing its members with the opportunity to participate in, and profit from, renewable energy developments.
But Peace Energy Cooperative is about more than just profits! A membership questionnaire has recently told the Board of Directors, that the number one reason they joined PEC was to be part of a group of like-minded individuals who support clean, renewable energy development for a better future now, and generations to come.

PEC acquired the rights to investigate and monitor wind resources on Bear Mountain, near Dawson Creek, BC, as a site for a commercial-scale wind power facility. The partnership of Bear Mountain Wind LP (BMWLP) was formed with Aeolis Wind Power Corp (Sidney, BC) as a wind energy development partner and Alta Gas Income Trust (Calgary, AB) as a financial partner.
The Bear Mountain Wind Park (BMW) began construction in late 2007 and will see commissioning of 34 Enercon E-82 wind turbines by November of 2009. As a development partner in BMW, Peace Energy Cooperative secured, for its investment members, a percentage of the ownership in the wind park.
As a renewable energy cooperative, PEC is poised to take advantage of the abundance of resources the Peace Region has to offer.

Solar hot water and solar electric, plus small scale wind for home and ranch, geothermal (earth energy) for space heating, and renewable energy education for the community are other projects that the PEC Board of Directors looks to for future development.
All have the potential to be expanded into projects to further benefit the return on investment to PEC membership, and offer ways to help PEC members install renewable energy systems in their homes and businesses and benefit directly.
In pursuing the mission and vision of PEC, the Board of Directors looks to:
Climate Change is a crisis of global proportion, and touches each and every one of us. Peace Energy is doing something to change, limit and reverse that crisis by building a clean energy future for the Peace Country. By becoming a member, you'll be doing something too!
