Modo The Car Co-op

Modo The Car Co-op is a not-for-profit co-operative venture incorporated to foster carsharing as smarter choice over individually-owned cars. We believe Modo is an environmentally responsible and economically sound choice for many people's mobility needs. Through carsharing we aim to improve air quality, reduce stresses on green space and eliminate many non-point sources of pollution.

The biggest question people have when they come to Modo is, "Will it work for me?" Our very simple answer is that if you need a car four days a week or fewer, then Modo will probably be a cost-effective and efficient alternative to owning your own car.

We highly recommend carsharing for people who already commute by cycling, walking, or taking transit - or who would like to make that commitment. Carsharing can help you change the way you use transportation, and the financial savings can make the rest of your life work better too.

The next big question is, "How does it work?" Depending on your usage you would choose either full co-op membership or a casual membership. Once you have signed up, you will have access to every car in the Modo fleet.

When you need a car, just log into our booking system or call our office 24 hours a day to select the car you need for the times you need it. Once your booking starts, go to the car, make your trip and return the car to the place you picked it up. Repeat the process as often as you need a car, and once a month you'll receive a bill for your usage. If you haven't used a Modo vehicle that month, you won't receive a bill.

The charges on this invoice pay for everything you need - the car, the parking, the insurance, the gas, and BCAA roadside assistance - at a small fraction of what you'd pay to own the car by yourself.
